International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) approved creation of the Working Group on Impact of Science and Technology (WGISTA) in 2019. The working group is led by the President of the UAE Accountability Authority, as Chair and the Comptroller General of the United States and Head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office as Vice Chair. WGISTA reflects the resolve and will of the INTOSAI Community to keep pace with the changing environment of public sector auditing which is shaped by science and technology. WGISTA focuses on key developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, cybersecurity, data analytics, 5G wireless technology, machine learning, quantum computing, amongst others, that will have an increasing impact on governments and their auditors.
